Wilbur E. Meyer, 80, of Ossian, passed away Saturday, Sept. 7, 2013.
Mr. Meyer was born May 8, 1933, in Wells County to Alvin Meyer and Minnie Nahrwold)Meyer.
He was an Army veteran, serving from 1953 to 1955 during the Korean War. He worked as a diamond die driller for Hoosier Wire and Die and Heritage Wire amd Die. He also worked for Kmart and the Falstaff brewery.
He was a member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church and a past president and township leader for the Wells County 4-H. He enjoyed spending his time woodworking and fishing.
Survivors include his wife of 58 years, Ilene Fackler Meyer; his children, Shelley (Ted) Ambriole of Fort Wayne, Stanley (Patricia) Meyer of Ossian, Sanford (Trudi) Meyer of Wolcottville, Sheldon (Cindy) Meyer of Ossian, and Sherry (Bret) Cole of Fort Wayne; 11 grandchildren, two stepgrandchildren, three great-grandchildren, and two stepgreat-grandchildren; and two sisters, Doris Graft of Florida and Sandra Lydy of Kendallville.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in passing by a brother, Kenneth Meyer.
A funeral service will be held at 4 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 11, at the Bethlehem Lutheran Church, 6514E-750N, Ossian, with visitation one hour prior. Visitation will also be from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, Sept. 9, 2013 and 2-4 and 6-8 on Tuesday September 10, at the Elzey-Patterson-Rodak Funeral Home, 120 W. Mill St., Ossian. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Memorials may be made to the Bethlehem Lutheran Church School Endowment Fund, Worship for Shut-ins, or Hospice Home.
