Wayne D. Thompson, 85, of Muscatine, Iowa, died on Tuesday, Sept. 25, 2012, at Carrington Place.
Wayne was born June 28, 1927, in Warren, to Webster and Mildred (Shafer) Thompson. He married Betty Jones on March 24, 1948, in Montpelier; she survives.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving during World War II. He was a member of a Masonic Lodge in Indiana for 50 years. He loved fishing, gardening, and nature especially ducks and birds, but enjoyed all wildlife.
Other surviving relatives include a son, Thomas (Iris) Thompson of Atascadero, Calif.; two daughters, Sandra (Jim) Junker of Anthem, Ariz., and Susan Campbell of Muscatine, Iowa; five grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his parents and eight brothers and sisters.
Friends and family may gather to share and remember from 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 30, at the Glancy — H. Brown & Son Funeral Home, 203 N. Matilda St. Warren. A service to celebrate Wayne’s life will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday, Oct. 1, at the Boehmer Methodist Church, 3467S-600W, Liberty Center, with Pastor Barry Humble officiating. Burial will take place in the Thompson Home Cemetery, Rural Warren, Indiana.
