William F. Jesse, 84, passed away Tuesday, Oct. 21, 2014, at Bluffton Regional Medical Center, after a courageous battle with cancer.
Born in Fort Wayne April 28, 1930, Bill was a proud member of the United States Air Force and retired from the Indiana Air National Guard in 1990 after 25 years of service. Bill was deeply proud of his military service, with assignments ranging from Korea, Iran and various military bases in the United States. Bill also worked 15 years for General Telephone in Fort Wayne. Bill was a longtime member of the First United Methodist Church in Bluffton and enjoyed participating in both the church choir and the Scottish Rite Choir in Fort Wayne for many years.
Bill was a longtime member of the Bluffton Masonic Lodge and was presented with the Award of Gold in 2014 for his 50 years of faithful service to the Masonic organization and community. His hobbies included bowling and traveling, as well as happily serving as chauffeur for his grandchildren after his retirement.
Surviving are his daughters, Jennifer Jesse of Ossian and Julie (Jason) Brown of Ossian; and three grandchildren.
Bill was preceded in death by his wife, Patricia Jesse; parents, Herbert and Catherin Jesse; and brothers, David Jesse, Thomas Jesse and Herbert Jesse.
Services will be held at 9:30 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 25, at the First United Methodist Church in Bluffton, with calling starting at 9 a.m. Pastor Steve Bard and Rev. Duane Jesse will officiate. Calling hours will be from 1 p.m. to 7 p.m. Friday, Oct. 24, at Thoma/Rich, Lemler Funeral Home in Bluffton.
A Masonic Memorial Service will take place at 7 p.m. at the conclusion of calling hours. Memorials may be made to the Honor Flight of Northeast Indiana, Kate’s Kitchen, or the First United Methodist Church Choir.
Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the care of the Thoma/Rich, Lemler Funeral Home.
