Opal M. Gaier, 86

Opal M. Gaier, 86, of Warren, a former resident of Montpelier, passed away at 8:41 p.m. Feb. 6, 2013, at the Hospice Home in Fort Wayne.
Mrs. Gaier was a 1944 graduate of Roll High School. She was a dairy farmer and also worked at John Deere for 13 years, Crankshaw in Montpelier for 16 years and at Bardo Chevrolet in Bluffton for 11 years as a bookkeeper, retiring in 2000.
She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Montpelier.
She was born Aug. 17, 1926, in rural Blackford County, to Elmer Martin and Rachael DuBois Martin. She married Cary Gaier Jan. 27, 1945, in Hartford City. Her husband preceded her in death.
Survivors include two sons, Francis (Shirley) Gaier of Bluffton and William (Nancy) Gaier of Fort Wayne; a grandson, Marc (Conya) Gaier of Kokomo; a step-granddaughter, Krystal Schmies of Fort Wayne; a step-grandson, Karl Jones of Fort Wayne; four great-grandchildren and two step-great-grandchildren; and a sister, Vonda (Paul) Branson of Winchester, Ind.
In addition to her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by a grandchild, Mike Gaier; five brothers; one sister; and a nephew, Larry Martin.
Family and friends may gather to share and remember from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 9, at the Glancy-H. Brown and Son Funeral Home, 203 N. Matilda St., Warren. A service to celebrate Opal’s life will be held at the funeral home at 1 p.m. Saturday with Gerald Moreland officiating. Interment will follow in the I.O.O.F. Cemetery in Montpelier.
