Nellie Marie Harris, 104

Nellie Marie Harris, 104, of Bluffton, passed away Thursday morning, Nov. 22, 2012, at Christian Care Retirement Community.
She was born Feb. 6, 1908, in Uniondale, to Harley and Lulu M. (Nickelson) Haiflich. Nellie first married Ross E. Fahl in Uniondale, on May 17, 1930. Together they had one child, a son, Kenneth Fahl. She married Wilbur “Dick” Harris Oct. 16, 1937, in Bluffton; he preceded her in death Feb. 14, 1992.
Mrs. Harris was a 1926 graduate of Rockcreek High School and held various jobs until her retirement. She had been employed 20 years as a postal clerk. She was a member of the First Reformed Church in Bluffton.
Survivors include her son, Kenneth (Marietta) Fahl of Tucson, Ariz., and two grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, and 12 great-great grandchildren.
In addition to her parents and husband, Nellie was preceded in death by two brothers, Herschel Haiflich and George Haiflich; two sisters, Lolitta Alexander and Elvira Hunter; and one grandchild.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday, Jan. 7, 2013, at the Goodwin Memorial Chapel. Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 8, 2013, at the funeral home with one hour of visitation prior to the service. Dr. Bryson E. Bell will be officiating. A private burial will be at the Oaklawn Cemetery in Ossian.
