Mildred Alice Settlemeyer, 100

Mildred Alice Settlemeyer, 100, of Berne, a former resident of Wells County, passed away at 1:55 a.m. Monday, Nov. 26, 2012, at the Swiss Village Retirement Community.
Alice was born in Plum Tree Oct. 1, 1912, to Jesse and Bertha Viola (Elick) Decker. She married Kenneth W. Settlemeyer, Feb. 14, 1939, in Fort Wayne; he preceded her in death.
Alice graduated from Rockcreek High School in 1930. She lived most of her life in Wells County.
Alice was employed as a clerk by Lincoln National Life for 19 years, retiring in 1972. She was a member of the Markle United Methodist Church.
Alice is survived by a son, Wayne K. (Bonnie) Settlemeyer of Wildwood, Mo.; a daughter, Lois Settlemeyer of Camas, Wash.; three grandchildren, Krista Dudash, Kelly Eden and Shari Settlemeyer; and four great-grandchildren, Danielle Dudash, Gabrielle Dudash, Ashley Smith and Courtney Eden.
In addition to her parents and husband, Alice was preceded in death by her two sisters, Opal Burnau and Dorothy Shively.
Calling hours are from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 28, at the Thoma/Rich, Chaney & Lemler Funeral Home in Bluffton. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 29, at the Swiss Village auditorium with calling one hour prior to the service at the auditoriam. Pastor Steven McPeek will officiate. Burial will be at the Hoverstock Cemetery in Zanesville.
In lieu of flowers, the family prefers memorials be made to the Markle United Methodist Church.
