Max Gerald Kaufman, 93

Max Gerald Kaufman, 93, passed away Jan. 16, 2013, in Bluffton.
Max was born May 22, 1919, in Whitley County, to John Easton and Edna Kaufman. After spending two years in the Army Air Corps, he was honorably discharged in August of 1945 with the rank of 2nd Lieutenant. He returned to Whitley County to operate the family farm and also started his career at Dana Corporation, retiring as a toolmaker in 1981.
He was preceded in death by Rose, his loving wife of 70 years.
He is survived by five sons, Jerry (Pat), Ted (Sharon), Phil (Cheryl), Dave, and Bill (Jane) Kaufman; a daughter, Marsha (Bob) Gemmer; and 11 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild.
Max devoted his life to his wife and family and was dearly loved and will be greatly missed.
Family and friends are invited to a celebration of his life at 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 26, at the Markle Church of Christ. There will be visitation for one hour prior to the service.
The family has requested memorials to the Laud Christian Church or the Markle Church of Christ. Burial will take place at 1:30 p.m. at Covington Memorial Gardens.
