Marguerite L. Von Gunten, 92

On Sunday, Oct. 7, 2012, Marguerite L. “Kitty” Von Gunten, 92, of Berne, went to be with her heavenly father on her 92nd birthday.
She was born to Frank and Joanna (Suman) Kitson on Oct. 7, 1920. She married Paul Von Gunten Sept. 12, 1941.
She was a member of the First Mennonite Church where she taught Sunday School, was a member of Women in Mission, and was on the charter committee that started children’s church. Kitty was an elementary secretary and later treasurer for South Adams Schools for many years. She and her husband volunteered at Camp Gilead in Florida for 20 years and also was a Cub Scout Leader. Kitty especially enjoyed her grand and great- grandchildren, crocheting, needlepoint and traveling.
Surviving are her husband; sons, Stephen (Alona) Von Gunten of Toledo, Ohio, Ronald (Lois) Von Gunten of Vermilion, Ohio, and Lee (Carla) VonGunten of Bluffton; a daughter, Ruth (Arland) Reinhard of Bluffton; a sister, Patricia Brunnegraff of Coshocton, Ohio; 11 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren; and step mother, Thelma Kitson.
She was preceded in death by her father; her mother; and brothers, Herbert and Lloyd Kitson.
Calling hours will be from 3 to 8 p.m. Friday, Oct. 12, and from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 13, at Swiss Village Chapel. Funeral services are at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, at the chapel with pastors Jerry Flueckiger and Jeff Linthicum officiating.
Burial is in the MRE Cemetery in Berne
Preferred memorials are to First Mennonite Church.
