Lorraine M. Smith, 91, of Bluffton, passed away at 9:45 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 21, 2013, at the Christian Care Retirement Community.
Lorraine was born Feb. 19, 1922, in Faribault, Minn., to Edward C. Soucy and Florina Bouchard Soucy. She married Max J. Smith Dec. 30, 1945, in Culver City, California. Her husband preceded her in death Nov. 24, 2009.
Lorraine was a homemaker. She was also the owner/operator of the Bluffton Gift and Office Supply Store for many years. In her later years she assisted in the office at Dunwiddie Heating, Plumbing and Air Conditioning of Bluffton.
She was a member of Tri Kappa and of the Eastern Star. She was an avid bridge player.
Survivors include a son, Ed “Poppy” (Cheryl) Smith of Syracuse, Ind.; two daughters, Deborah (Mark) Clark of Bluffton and Amy A. (Doug) Dunwiddie, both of Bluffton; three grandchildren, Lisa Bowman of Fort Wayne, Kyle Clark of Cincinnati, Ohio, and Lauren (Matt) Prible of Keystone; three step-grandchildren, including Wendy (Joey) Hendricks of Bluffton; and six step-great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by five sisters.
Calling hours are 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday and one hour prior to services Monday at the Thoma/Rich, Chaney and Lemler Funeral Home. A service celebrating Lorraine’s life will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, Feb. 25, at the funeral home, with Certified Life Celebrant Jeff Lemler officiating.
Burial will be at the Garden of Chimes at Elm Grove Cemetery in Bluffton.
