Leon Kilander Sr., 91

Leon M. Kilander Sr., 91, of Marion, passed away at 11:35 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 12, 2013, at Hospice Home in Fort Wayne.
He was born on Thursday, Jan. 26, 1922, in Jackson Township, Wells County. Leon was the president of the first graduating class of Jackson Township High School, graduating in 1938. He married Mary D. Green on Saturday, April 21, 1951, in the McNatt United Methodist Church parsonage.
He was a life long Wells County farmer and former Dekalb Seed dealer. Leon was a member of the Wells County 4-H Association. He was a past precinct committeeman for the Democratic party. He was a past member of the Dillman United Brethren in Christ Church and present member of the Asbury United Methodist Church. Leon served as a Sunday School teacher and board member for both churches.
Survivors include a son, Leon M. (Louella) Kilander Jr., Marion; a daughter, Deborah D. Kilander, Portland; a son, Robert M. Kilander, Marion; a grandson, David L. (Megan) Kilander, and their son, Bryce Kilander, Warren; a granddaughter, Lisa A. (Nathan) Boxell, and their sons, Case Boxell and Owen Boxell, of Poneto; and a special friend, Lucille Endsley, Marion.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary D. (Green) Kilander; his father, Guy A. Kilander; and mother, Delpha (Nelson) Kilander.
Family and friends may gather to share and remember at Glancy - H. Brown & Son Funeral Home, 203 N. Matilda St., Warren, Sunday, Feb. 17, from 1 to 4 p.m.
A service to celebrate Leon’s life will be at the funeral home on Monday, Feb. 18, with the Pastor Phil Freel officiating. Interment will follow in the Asbury Cemetery in Jackson Township, Wells County, on Ind. 3.
