John J. “Jack” Barnes Jr., 78, of Plantation Place, Villa Rica, Ga., passed away Wednesday, April 17, 2013.
Mr. Barnes was born May 5, 1934, in Des Moines, Iowa, to John J. Barnes Sr. and Laura Mae Carlson Barnes.
Mr. Barnes was a graduate of Newton High School in Newton, Iowa, and Simpson College in Indianola, Iowa. He was employed by the J.C. Penney Co. in Indianola, Iowa, Kewanee, Ill., St. Louis, Mo., and Bluffton, Ind. He retired to Fairfield Plantation in 1995.
Jack had a love of music and studied organ at St. Margaret’s Episcopal Church with Dr. Robert Coe until the time of his death.
He is survived by several cousins and his sister-in-law, Nancy Barnes of Fairfield Plantation.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, James W. Barnes.
There are no services planned at this time. According to Jack’s wishes, his body was cremated.
