James W. Mobley, 73, Ossian, passed away Wednesday, Feb. 25, 2015, at Lutheran Hospital in Fort Wayne.
He was born Aug. 20, 1941, in Alabama to James R. Mobley and Mary Alpha Stultz; his mother survives in Dearborn Heights, Mich. He married Nancy S. Driscoll in Dearborn, Mich., April 19, 1981; she survives.
He graduated from Fordson High School in 1959, earned a two-year welding associate’s degree and attended the Southern Wells Community Church. James retired in 1993 from Ford Motor Company as a welder after 30 years. He then retired from Bluffton’s Auto Zone store in 2014.
He was an avid woodworker and enjoyed antiques and collectibles. He was a devoted family man and loved country music.
Additional survivors include four sons, Robert (Wendy) Mobley of Michigan, John Souder of New York, Brian Souder of Michigan, and Scott Mobley of Michigan; two daughters, Stephanie (Justin) Erickson of Ossian and Sheryl (Chris) Ahart of Michigan; 14 grandchildren and one future grandchild expected in the spring; one great-grandchild; several nieces and nephews; a sister, Mary Sharon (Karl) Acord of Dearborn Heights, Mich.; and a brother, Larry (Connie) Mobley of Alabama.
A service will be held at 11 a.m. March 3 at Goodwin-Cale & Harnish Memorial Chapel with Pastor Adam Carroll officiating. Burial will be at Six Mile Cemetery. Calling hours are from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. Monday and two hours prior to the service Tuesday, starting at 9 a.m.
