Jack Reiff, 89

Jack Edson Reiff, 89, Decatur, passed away at 6:05 a.m. Friday, Dec. 21, 2012 at Adams Memorial Hospital. He has been a resident the past two years at Woodcrest Nursing Center.
Born on Apr. 12, 1923, in Bluffton to Johnnie and Gladys (Quick) Reiff, he married Doreen Ruth Luestner on May 20, 1944 in Townsland, Queensland, Australia; she passed away June 6, 1964. He married Earlene A. “Scottie” Cummings on Mar. 5, 1965 in Bluffton; she passed away Jan. 25, 2003.
A 1941 graduate of Bluffton High School, he was a veteran, serving in the U.S. Army during World War II in Papua, New Guinea. Mr. Reiff retired in 1985 as a line supervisor for American Electric Power (Indiana Michigan Power). He was a member of Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church of Friedheim, Moose Lodge 1311 in Decatur, American Legion Post 111 in Bluffton, and the VFW 6236 in Decatur where is was a past commander. He was also Senior Council president at Woodcrest Nursing Center.
Survivors include a son, Anthony F. “Tony” (Linda) Reiff of Bluffton; a daughter, Angela T. (Steve) Yarrington of Decatur; two grandsons, Benjamin John (Kelly) Reiff of Indianapolis and Christopher Lucas Reiff of Stockton, Calif.; and two sisters, Joyce (Ellis. Jr.) Braner and Joan (Eugene) Mendenhall, both of Bluffton.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Verdane and Robert Reiff.
Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church of Friedheim with Pastor Daniel Dahling officiating. Calling hours at Thursday from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Zwick & Jahn Funeral Home in Decatur and Friday for one hour prior to the services at the church.
Military graveside services will be conducted by the American Legion Post 43 in Decatur.
Preferred memorials are to Zion Lutheran Church, Friedheim or Calvary Lutheran Church in Bluffton.
