Posted on June 19, 2012
Harold E. “Bud” Kyle, 82, of Groveland, Fla., a former resident of Bluffton, passed away on Father’s Day, Sunday, June 17, 2012.
Mr. Kyle was born Sept. 12, 1929, in Bluffton, to Cletus Kyle and Roeanna Gilliland Kyle.
He is survived by his wife, Barbara J. (Gass) Kyle; three daughters, Jean, Kathy and Holly; two sons, Chuck and David; and nine grandchildren, Kyle, Zachary, Bethany, Kimberly, Shelby, Kylan, Kasstin, Jason and Brian.
Bud was active in the Community Church in Howey-in-the-Hills as an elder and choir member. He was a member of the Kiwanis Club of South Lake, supporter of Friends of the Marion Baysinger Library, and treasurer of the Villa City Homeowner’s Association.
He was a graduate of Purdue University with a master’s degree in chemical engineering. He helped develop a new chemical process that was later commercialized in Texas, Puerto Rico and Italy. He had several U.S. and foreign patents on new chemical processes, and was asked to write a section in the Encyclopedia of Chemical Processes. His work led him to visit most countries in Europe and Asia.
In lieu of flowers, Bud’s wish was that monetary memorials to the missions program of the Community Church of Howey-in-the-Hills be made in his memory.
The Brewer and Sons Funeral Homes and Cremation Services office in Groveland, Fla., is in charge of arrangements.
