Glen Dale Shoemaker, 90

Glen Dale Shoemaker, 90, of Bluffton, died at 11:50 a.m., Monday, Nov. 19, 2012, at Lutheran Hospital in Fort Wayne.
Mr. Shoemaker was born in Hartford Township, Adams County, March 22, 1922, to Forest Shoemaker and Flossie Fern (Bryan) Shoemaker. He married Mabel Frances Ireland in Pennville, April 1, 1945; she survives.
A 1940 graduate of Hartford Center High School, Mr. Shoemaker was a lifelong farmer who also worked for Corning Glass in Bluffton, retiring in 1982 after 17 years service.
He attended Bryant Wesleyan Church in Bryant, where he served on the church board for over 50 years, from 1945 to 1995. He also taught Sunday school during this time, and was also a song leader, and led revival meetings since 1938.
He was also an avid I.U. basketball fan.
Other surviving relatives include a son, Stephen J. (Janey) Shoemaker of Geneva; two daughters, Joyce E. (Denny) Young of Farmington Hills, Mich., and Cynthia R. (Tim) Morris of Portland; one sister, Arbutus Zimmerman of Fort Wayne; eight grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a sister, June Springer.
Calling hours will be from 1 to 8 p.m. Friday, Nov. 23, at the Goodwin Memorial Chapel in Bluffton and from 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 24, at the Bryant Wesleyan Church, 209 S. Hendricks St., Bryant. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, at the church, with the Pastor Paul VanCise officiating. Burial will be at the Alberson Cemetery.
Preferred memorials are to the church or Christian Care Retirement Community in Bluffton.
