Dorotha R. Hauenstein, 88, of Markle passed away at 1:31 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 21, 2012, at Lutheran Hospital in Fort Wayne.
She was a 1942 graduate of Roanoke High School. She worked as a clerk for Farm Credit Services for six years. She was a farmer’s wife, farming in Union and Rock Creek Townships in Wells County.
She was a member of the Bethlehem Evangelical Lutheran Church and the Needmore Extension Club. She was a Laubach Literacy teacher for several years.
Dorotha was born Oct. 1, 1924, in Whitley County, to Daniel E. Schoenauer and Nellie Marie Redman Schoenauer. She was united in marriage to John R. Hauenstein Feb. 13, 1949, in Huntington. He preceded her in death Dec. 18, 2008.
Survivors include a son, Mark (Becky) Hauenstein of Markle; a daughter, Beth Hauenstein of Columbia City; three grandchildren and seven great grandchildren; a sister, Barbara Anderson of Winona Lake; and a brother, DeWayne Schoenauer of Payne, Ohio.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Elwood Schoenauer.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday, Nov. 26, 2012, at the Myers Funeral Home Markle Chapel, 415 N. Lee St., Markle. Services will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 27, 2012, at the Bethlehem Evangelical Lutheran Church, 6514E-750N, Ossian, with Pastor William Berge officiating. There will be an hour of additional calling prior to the service. Interment will be at the Horeb Cemetery in Uniondale.
