Charles ‘Jake’ Kreider, 64

Charles J. “Jake” Kreider, 64, of Bluffton, passed away Tuesday, Oct. 29, 2013, at his residence.
He was born Sept. 14, 1949, in Fort Wayne to Charles Ellis Kreider and Edna Mae Utter Kreider. He married Shirley Hobbs Sept. 25, 1993; she survives in Bluffton.
Jake attended Columbia City High School and was an over-the-road truck driver. He retired from driving for John Lapear – BOO Trucking Company in Bluffton. He also drove for Jet Express in Marion and Webo Trucking in Laketon. He enjoyed driving race cars and loved spending time with his family and grandchildren. He attended Community Chapel in Fairmount.
Additional survivors include his children, Anita (Mike Zent) Eads of Fort Wayne and Charles Dewayne Kreider of Wabash; siblings, Betty (James Summers) Bradshaw of Crossville, Tenn., Marcella (Bill) Conley of Mayfield, Kan., Rita Compton of Wellington, Kan., and Calvin Compton of Liberty Mills; several loving nieces and nephews; a special friend/caregiver, Judy Alford of Bluffton; and six grandchildren, Tysan Eads, Teia Eads and Trista Eads, all of Fort Wayne, Mckenzie Hurley and Bradien Hurley of Mentone, and Olivia Hyden of Wabash.
He was preceded in death by a son, Timmy Lee Kreider; a daughter, Sherri Lynn Kreider; sisters, Mary Ankrom and Beatrice Bishop; two brothers, James Kreider and a stillborn brother; and an infant sister, Carolyn Sue Kreider.
Funeral services will be held at 7 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 2, at Thoma/Rich, Chaney & Lemler Funeral Home. Calling hours are from 5 to 7 p.m. Saturday. Burial will be at Vincent’s Memorial Cemetery in Summitville.
