Priscilla Walker, 98
Priscilla “Sid” or “Nan” June Walker, 98, died at 12:15 a.m. Wednesday, July 1, 2009 at Meadowvale Health & Rehabilitation Center in Bluffton.
Sid was born on June 1, 1911 in Hartford City to the late Robert E. Wentz and the late Mary Ethel (Jones) Wentz. Her father precedes her in death on July 22, 1959 and her mother precedes her in death on July 15, 1931.
She lived in Hartford City for a majority of her life moving to Wells County 33 years ago to be closer to her daughter Mary Ann Bricker.
Sid retired from Kerr Glass in Dunkirk in 1976 after 35 years of service.
She was a Charter Member of the Ladies of the Moose of Hartford City and formally a member of Trinity United Methodist Church formally E.U.B. Church in Hartford City.
Nan will be sadly missed by her daughter, Mary Ann (Donald “Don”) Bricker of Vera Cruz-Bluffton; grandchildren, Tony Lee (Leah) Bricker of Dallas; Tamara Lee-Ann (Jack) Eisaman of Bluffton; DeLeine K. Winchester of Indianapolis; Terri Ellen Bricker of Miami, Florida; Sandra D. Williams of Miami, Fla; great-grandchildren, Logan Jackson Eisaman, Holden Walker Eisaman, Maxwell Martin-Stearman Eisaman and Seth William Eisaman; 5 great-great-grandchildren; sister, Kathryn Regina “Jeanne” Reading of Hartford City; several nieces and nephews including Constance Joan (Hildebrand) Johnson of Huntington Beach, Calif.
She is preceded in death by her parents, her son Jackie Lee Compton on March 13, 1931 and her sister, Clara Faythe Hildebrand on Oct. 24, 1987.
Visitation for Sid will be from noon to 3 p.m. Tuesday, July 7, 2009 at Keplinger Funeral Home, 509 N. High St., Hartford City.
Funeral services for Sid will be at 3 p.m. Tuesday, July 7, 2009 at Keplinger Funeral Home with Rev. Elijah McKnight of Trinity United Methodist Church officiating. Interment will follow at Hartford City Cemetery.

Bradley Thomas Benbow, infant
Bradley Thomas Benbow was stillborn at 10:02 a.m. Wednesday, July 1, 2009 at 10:02 a.m. at Ball Memorial Hospital in Muncie.
He is survived by his parents, Brent L. and Christy L. (McPhail) Benbow of Fishers; maternal grandparents, Roy and Carol McPhail of Lavonia, Mich.; and paternal grandparents, Robert and Donna Benbow of Montpelier.

Genevieve Snyder Nussbaum, 93
Genevieve Snyder Nussbaum, 93, of Berne, died at 3:35 p.m. Saturday, June 27, 2009 at the Swiss Village Retirement Community in Berne.
Genevieve was born on July 28, 1915 in Allen County, the daughter of George and Dove (Osborn) Snyder, both deceased.  She married Menno Nussbaum on Aug. 27, 1939 in Monroe, and he preceded her in death in 1999.
Genevieve was a graduate of Elmhurst High School in Fort Wayne. She was a former employee of the Ben Franklin Dime Store for 10 years. Genevieve was a member of the Evangelical Mennonite Church of Berne,  a member of the Church Senior Lamplighter Group, a member of the Women’s Ministry, a Sunday School Teacher for forty years, and a leader in the Children’s Ministries for 40 years.
Genevieve is survived by a daughter, Doveanna (the Rev. Dal) Fosnaugh of Bluffton; a sister, Marybelle Schwartz of Monroe; and a brother, John Snyder of Brownsburg.
Other survivors include two granddaughters, Michelle (Barry) Fisher of Geneva and Christy (Myron) Klesner of Tyro, Kansas; and six great grandchildren, Andrew, Aimee and Abbie Fisher and Emily, Joshua, and Caleb Klesner.
Genevieve was also preceded in death by a sister, Daisy Harrison.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, July 8, 2009 at the Evangelical Mennonite Church in Berne, with the Rev. Keith Fahl, the Rev. Gareth Wiederkehr, and Myron Klesner officiating. Interment will be in the Evangelical Mennonite Church Cemetery.
Family and friends will be received from 2 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, July 7, 2009 in the Swiss Village Chapel and one hour prior to the service at the church Wednesday.
Preferred memorials are to the Evangelical Mennonite Church or Gideon’s International.

Hermenia Higgins Schlagenhauf, 99
Hermenia Higgins Schlagenhauf, 99, of Westfield and formerly of Carmel, died June 27, 2009.
One of six children, she was born in Bluffton on Nov. 20, 1909 to the late Earl and Pearl Ditzler Higgins.
Hermenia was a 1927 graduate of Bluffton High School. In 1936 she married Robert L. Schlagenhauf; he preceded her in death in 1976.
Hermenia worked for a number of years as a secretary at Winona Hospital and later Chatham Walk Condominiums. She loved the old hymns, enjoyed reading, sewing and tending to her flowers. She was also a member of the Carmel United Methodist Church.
Survivors include her three children, Jane (Steve) Davidson, Ted (Linda) Schlagenhauf and Alice (Bob) Moore, and seven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Calling hours will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Wednesday at the Leppert Mortuary, Smith Carmel Chapel, 900 N. Rangeline Road, Carmel. Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Interment will follow in the Washington Park East Cemetery.
Preferred memorials are to the Carmel United Methodist Church, 621 S. Rangeline Road, Carmel.

Maxine L. Somers, 92
Maxine L. Somers, 92, Bluffton, died Sunday, June 28, 2009, at the Ossian Health Care and Rehabilitation Center.
She was a former employee of the Indiana Department of Highways (now the Indiana Department of Transportation) and was the owner of the Somerdale Mobile Home Park. She was a member of the First Church of Christ in Bluffton. She was known as a loving and caring person who will be missed by family and friends.
Mrs. Somers was born May 31, 1917, in Wells County, to Lee and Clara Knudsen Collins. She married Max Somers, who preceded her in death.
Survivors include a son, Rex (Ernestine) Somers of Ossian; a daughter-in-law, Phyllis Somers of Markle; three grandchildren, Stacy Somers of Fort Wayne, Jason Somers of Indianapolis, and Laura (Brian) Zobel of Decatur, Ill.; and two great-grandchidren, Ethan and Ben Zobel.
In addition to her husband and her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Roger Somers; four sisters, Violet Harter, Devona Gerber, Crystal Archbold, and Velma Harris; and a brother, Brooks Collins.
Calling will be from 2 to 5 and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the Elzey-Patterson-Rodak Funeral Home, 120 W. Mill St., Ossian. Services will be held at the funeral home at 11 a.m. Thursday with Larry Sprinkle officiating. Burial will be at the Oak Lawn Cemetery.
Preferred memorials are to the First Church of Christ in Bluffton.

Chad B. Squier, 71
The father of three Bluffton residents, Chad B. Squier, 71, of Horseshoe Bend, Ark., died on Thursday, June 11, 2009.
Survivors include his mother, Madelyn Squier of Horseshoe Bend, Ark.; five sons, Byron Squier of Bluffton, Shaun Squier of Bluffton, Lonnie Squier of Garrett, Ben Squier of Pennville and Parker Squier of Pennville; three daughters, Brenda Robbins of Bluffton, Shiela Anderson of Fort Wayne and Lynn Boolman of Portland; one sister, Susan Clay, of Arkansas; and one brother, Lance Squier, of California.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, July 11, at Park United Brethren Church, 617 S. Bennett St., Bluffton.

Glen Manley, 78
The brother of a Bluffton woman, Glen Manley, 78, Decatur, died at 10:27 a.m. Saturday, June 27, 2009, at the Woodcrest Nursing Center in Decatur.
Survivors include his wife, Alice J. (Hawkins) Manley of Decatur; four sons, David, Roger (Marla), Ron (Mary) and Steve (Lori) Manley, all of Decatur; a daughter, Marilyn (Mike) Gerber of Monroe; three sisters, Velma Penrod of Bluffton, Mildred Wolfe of Berne and Marcile King of Decatur; and two brothers, Kenneth and Lester Manley, both of Decatur. He was preceded in death by a son, Larry Manley, six sisters, a brother and one great-granddaughter.
Services will be held Wednesday at 10 a.m. at the Zwick & Jahn Funeral Home in Decatur. Calling hours there are Tuesday from 1 to 4 and 5 to 8 p.m. Military graveside services will be conducted by Adams Post 43 of the American Legion.

Jewel G. Dilts, 84
Jewel G. Dilts, 84, Warren, died Sunday, June 28, 2009 at the Visiting Nurse and Hospice Home in Fort Wayne.
She was born Aug. 12, 1924, in Morgan County, Ky., to Norman and Georgia Mae (Price) Adams. She married William Dilts Jan. 16, 1949, in Gas City; her husband survives.
Other survivors include a daughter, Starr (David) Watts of Warren; seven sons, Loren (Mary) Dilts of Grand Rapids, Mich., William (Mary) Dilts of Jonesboro, Ronald (Arlene) McLain of Cottonwood, Ariz., Robert (Lavern) Dilts of Jacksonville, Fla., Bob McLain of Los Angeles, Calif., and Lee (Janet) Dilts of Warren; and 25 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Mary Pefley.
Services will be held Thursday at 11 a.m. at the Glancy-H. Brown & Son Funeral Home in Warren. Calling hours there are Wednesday from 6 to 8 p.m. Burial will be in the Estates of Serenity in Marion.

Randy Kent Bole, 51, Hartford City, died Friday, June 26, 2009 at his residence.
 He was born May 25, 1958, in Blackford County, to Charles and Shirley (Oswalt) Bole. His parents survive.
Other survivors include a son, Ryan Bole of Hartford City; a daughter, Casey (Dustin) Gothrup of Monticello, Ky.; three sisters, Sandy (Tim) Norton of Montpelier, Sherri (Dennis) Leas of Montpelier, and Shelli (Jeff) Nickols of Hartford City; a brother, Charles Bole of Muncie; and two grandchildren.
Services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Walker & Glancy Funeral Home in Montpelier. Calling hours there are today from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Interment will be at Center Cemetery in Roll.

Roselend V. Willett, 88
Roselend V. Willett, 88, of Bluffton, died at 9:25 a.m. Friday, June 26, 2009, at Christian Care Retirement Center.
Mrs. Willett was born in Newaygo County, Mich. on June 23, 1921 to Emery and Marjorie Bevard Violet. She married the Rev. Edwin A. Willett in Michigan on Aug. 1, 1942; he preceded her in death on Sept. 23, 1993.
Mrs. Willett lived in Wells County since 1969. She sold Stanley Home products for many years and was also active as a minister’s wife teaching Sunday School and assisting at the church. She enjoyed sewing, gardening and reading.
Survivors include four daughters, Nancy S. Willett of Westland, Mich., Marjorie (John) Rollins of Westland, Mich., Rochelle (Mark) Anthony of Bluffton, and Daphne (Robert) Dahl of Bluffton; a son, Rodney (Sue) Willett of McMinnville, Tenn.; a sister, Vivian (William) Valade of Tulsa, Okla.; and 10 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Willett was also preceded in death by a sister, Dorothy Violet and a brother, Ernest Violet.
Calling hours will be from 9 to 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Cadillac Memorial Gardens Chapel, 34224 Ford Road, Westland, Mich.. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the chapel with the Rev. Neil Swanger officiating. Burial is at the Cadillac Memorial Gardens West.
Preferred memorials are to Gideon’s International.

Floyd R. Napier, 73
Floyd R. Napier, 73, of Clearwater, Fla., whose daughters live in Wells County, died Wednesday, June 17, 2009 at Morton Plant Mease Hospital in Clearwater.
Surviving relatives include his wife, Ellen, and two daughters, Terri (Jack) Blair of Ossian and Beverly (Kevin) Steffen of Bluffton.
Funeral services were held at Sylvan Abbey Funeral Home in Clearwater on Saturday, June 20. Burial was at the Sylvan Abbey Memorial Park.
