Otters relay team first at age group state finals

Walter Hacker, Logan Ackley, Parker Brandenburg and Anthony Vernasco, swimming for the Huntington-Wells Otters, were champions in the 10-and-under boys 200-yard medley relay at the Indiana Age Group State Championships on March 14-16 at the Indiana University Natatorium on the campus of IUPUI in Indianapolis.

Hacker swam the backstroke leg, Brandenburg the breaststroke, Ackley the butterfly and Vernasco the freestyle in 2:16.86.

Hacker, Ackley, Brandenburg and Vernasco also placed third in the 200-yard freestyle relay in 2:02.59.

Rachel Farmer, Kimberly Hochstedler, Breanna Robinson and Andrea Richter placed sixth in the girls 11-12 200-yard freestyle relay in 1:51.05.

Dani Thomas, Ali McClain, Erin Hipskind and Brittany Robinson placed fifth in the girls 13-14 200-yard freestyle relay in 1:43.01.

Thomas, McClain, Hipskind and Robinson also placed sixth in the 400-yard freestyle relay in 3:46.47.

Individually in the 10-and-under age group, Hacker was fifth in the 100-yard butterfly in 1:15.90 and Ackley was seventh in 1:16.81.
