Ballinger lighting up Adelaide 36ers
Adam Ballinger is making a big hit with his new team and the South Australian basketball fans. Ballinger joined the 36ers this season and has proved a definite asset at power forward.
The Adelaide import picked up an Australian National Basketball League’s Player of the Week award thanks to his mammoth effort against the South Dragons on Nov. 20.
A career-high game for the 36ers forward from Bluffton earned him the NBL Player of the Week award for Round Nine of the 2007/08 Hummer Championship season.
The American import dominated all areas of the court, finishing with a season-high 42 points. If that wasn’t remarkable enough, the 6-9 forward also managed to rack up 15 rebounds as well as adding three assists to help his team score a crucial 96-93 win over the South Dragons.
After accumulating 22 points at the half, Ballinger went on to shoot 58 percent from the field, 43 percent from the perimeter and made 9-out-of-10 free throw attempts.
Ballinger also was been named to the World Team for the 2007/08 NBL All Star Game to be held in Melbourne.

MS Tigers split with Riverview girls
The Bluffton Middle School girls basketball teams split a pair of games against Huntington Riverview Tuesday at Bluffton. The 8th-grade Tigers (3-1) defeated Riverview 28-24, while the 7th-grade Tigers fell in double overtime 29-27.
Leading the 8th-grade Tigers in scoring were Maggie Garrett and Sheena Steffen with six points each. Leslie Peeper, Felicia Prible and Breana Brickley added four apiece. Kyanne Bryant and Jerilynn Davis rounded out the scoring with two each.
Danielle Brown led the 7th-grade Tigers with 10 points. Peyton Fugate added nine, Gina Eisenhut five, Connelly Mettler two and Darcie Johnson one. 

Tigers, Riverview boys break even
The Bluffton Middle School boys basketball teams came away with a split Tuesday against Huntington Riverview. The 8th-grade Tigers won 28-18, while Riverview took the 7th-grade contest 35-18.
Ryan McCarthy led the 8th-grade Tigers with eight points. Dillon Myers added six, Austin Okey five, Tanner Coratti five, Jacob McKinley two and Nick Huffman two.
Seth Thompson netted eight for the 7th-grade Tigers. Jackson Lambert added four, while Chandler Prible, Tyler Lambert and Ben Pfister each had two.

Raider jr. high girls top Starfires
The Southern Wells Junior High School girls basketball teams raced past the South Adams Starfires Monday. The 7th-grade Raiders defeated South Adams 14-6 and the 8th-grade Raiders trounced the Starfires 33-3.
Kaylie McCammon scored four points to lead the 7th-grade Raiders. Autumn McCammon, Brittney Morton, Samantha Rhodes, Katie Early and Tylar Sanford all scored two points.
Mallory Preston powered the 8th-grade Raiders’ attack with 17 points. Erica Fate added eight. Kaitlin Bonewit, Jayde Sills, Josie Rhodes and Morgan Perry each chipped in two points.
