Bluffton’s Bengal Brigade had a double day of triumphs Saturday in competition at Angola and Fort Wayne Northrop in marching band competition.
At Angola the Brigade took home all six caption awards and a first place trophy.
The caption awards were: Best Drum Major, Best Music, Best General Effect, Best Visual, Best Percussion, and Best Auxiliary.
The band next journeyed to Northrop High School in Fort Wayne for the 2006 Marching Band Invitational held there. Bluffton won all six caption awards and the first place trophy in their division, competing against Manchester and North Decatur Jr./Sr. High.
Norwell’s Marching Knights were in competition at East Noble on Saturday and they were able to perform their routine before rain wiped out the rest of the event.
Because all of the competing schools were not able to perform, there were no awards presented at the East Noble event.
On Saturday, Sept. 30, the Bengal Brigade will travel to Homestead High School in Fort Wayne for ISSMA District competition. Bluffton is slated to perform on the field at 11:00 a.m.
More information may be obtained by visiting www.bhmsd.k12.in.us and going to the band’s web site.
Norwell will also appear in the ISSMA District contest Saturday at Homestead in Class C. The Marching Knights are slated to perform at 1:36 p.m.
Bands from 26 schools will be competing in four classes at the Homestead site.
Those advancing out of the district competition will advance to regional contests at four locations around the state on Saturday, Oct. 14.
