Bradshaw buys into RV company
MIDDLEBURY, Ind. (AP) — A northern Indiana recreational vehicle company that started less than two years ago with 18 workers is looking for a boost with football Hall of Famer Terry Bradshaw promoting it as a part owner.
The former Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback announced Thursday that he would become the face of Middlebury-based EverGreen Recreational Vehicles, traveling to trade shows and publicizing its RVs.
The deal came about because EverGreen founder Kelly Rose and Bradshaw have been golfing buddies met in Florida for the past few years and Rose asked Bradshaw to get involved with the company.
Bradshaw says he’s confident of success for Evergreen. It now has 100 workers and is promoting its RVs as environmentally friendly since they are lighter than others and are made with much recycled material.

Wood-burning power plant killed
SCOTTSBURG, Ind. (AP) — Plans for a $100 million wood-burning power plant in southern Indiana have been rejected by a county zoning board.
Scottsburg Mayor Bill Graham has supported the project, but says the Scott County plan commission’s 4-2 vote against it likely spells its end.
Developer Liberty Green Renewables last year proposed the plant near Scottsburg and another near Milltown in Crawford County that would burn wood waste, corn waste and other material to generate power.
But those living near the Scottsburg site along U.S. 31 raised concerns about air and water pollution, traffic from trucks delivering wood fuel and how close it is to an elementary school.

Biomet plans expansion in Warsaw
WARSAW, Ind. (AP) — Medical device maker Biomet plans an expansion of its northern Indiana facilities that could add about 280 jobs.
Company officials have discussed the plan with Kosciusko County officials as they’ve sought tax breaks on the $26 million project.
Biomet attorney Richard Helm says the expansion in Warsaw would retain about 80 jobs and lead to some manufacturing being moved there from New Jersey.
County Council President Harold Jones said he expected the council to approve the tax breaks next month after it gave an economic development area designation for part of Biomet’s campus last week.
Biomet vice president Bill Kolter says the project would retain and expand its Warsaw distribution center.

Wine contest moving to Purdue

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. (AP) — Indiana’s international wine competition is moving to Purdue University — the contest’s lead sponsor — after 17 years in Indianapolis.
More than 3,000 commercial wines made in 39 states and 12 countries have been entered in the annual Indy International Wine Competition. It runs Aug. 4-6 at the Purdue Memorial Union.
More than 50 judges from the U.S. and abroad will sample and score the wines during the three-day event, which is free and open to the public.
Purdue wine marketing specialist Jeanette Merritt says the school has four wine industry experts and bringing the competition to Purdue gives it a chance to showcase the work that’s going on at the West Lafayette campus.
