William “Mac” Smith, 74
William “Mac” Smith, 74, Geneva, passed away Thursday afternoon, March 4, 2010 near Geneva.
Born on June 28, 1935 in Adams County to Godfred William and Laura Opal Smith, both deceased. He married Catherine M. Habegger on Oct. 14, 1956; she survives.
“Mac” was a member of the First Mennonite Church of Berne. He was an accomplished mason and master craftsman in the area. He was a member of the International Union of Bricklayers and Allied Craft Workers. He was also a member of the Loyal Workers Sunday School Class. He loved to travel, enjoyed hunting and fishing, and was an avid gardener.
In addition to his wife of Geneva, he is survived by two sons, Tony Smith of Indianapolis and Fred (Lori) Smith of Fishers; a daughter, Becky (Kent) Werst of Geneva; two brothers, Harold and Tim Smith; two sisters, Grace Whetstone and Veda Edwart; and seven grandchildren: Michael and Jessica Smith, Parker and Logan Smith, Jackson, Jacob and Isaac Werst.
He was preceded in death by siblings: Catherine Summers, Mildred Boice, Jane Knipstein, Walter Smith and Harry Smith.
Serices will be held Monday at 10:30 a.m. at the First Mennonite Church in Berne with Rev. Jerry Flueckiger officiating. Calling hours are Sunday from 1 to 8 p.m. at the Yager-Kirchhofer Funeral Home in Berne and Monday for one hour prior to the service at the church.
Interment will be in the M.R.E. Cemetery in rural Berne. Preferred memorials are to the First Mennonite Church Missions.

Beth A. Followill, 50
Beth A. Followill, 50, of Bluffton, died Wednesday, March 3, 2010, at Bluffton Regional Medical Center.
Mrs. Followill was born in Carlsbad, N.M. on May 7, 1959 to Charles and Merne (Hollingsworth) Abernathy.  She married Mark Followill in Merkel, Texas on Jan. 15, 2007; he survives.
Surviving relatives include two daughters, Krysta (Mark) Young of Fort Wayne and Tara Ireland of Auburn; one son, Justin Mabe of Monroeville; two step-daughters, Jennifer Mabe of Fort Wayne and Amy Followill of Lubbock, Texas; one brother, Perry (Barbara) Abernathy of Albuquerque, N.M.; and two sisters, Janet (Lex) Allgood of Lake Brownwood, Texas and Holly (Chris) Grimes of Decatur, Ga.
Calling hours will be from 1 to 8 p.m. Monday, March 8 and from 9 to 11 a.m. Tuesday, March 9, at the Goodwin Memorial Chapel in Bluffton. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m., Tuesday, at the funeral home. Burial will be at Fairview Cemetery in Bluffton.
