Former Bluffton Mayor and City Council member William M. Fryback, 88, died at 7 a.m. Monday at the River Terrace Estates.
Fryback, a Democrat, twice served as Bluffton’s mayor. He was elected in 1971 and served two terms, leaving office at the end of 1979. His successor, John Flaningam, died during his second term, and a Democratic caucus chose Fryback to serve the remainder of Flaningam’s term. He left office at the end of 1987.
