Woodlan runs away from Tiger hoopsters

The Woodlan Warriors raced out to a 24-8 lead in the first quarter Friday night and cruised to a 68-31 victory over the Bluffton Tigers in Allen County Athletic Conference girls’ basketball at Woodburn.

Woodlan (5-3, 2-1 ACAC) almost matched their start in the third period with a 21-4 advantage.

Bluffton dropped to 2-7 overall and 1-2 in the ACAC.

The Tigers were led by freshman forward Gina Eisenhut with 13 points. Natasha Patterson added six and Danielle Brown five.

Skila Betancourt chipped in three, Marci Mettler two and Leslee Peeper two.

Eisenhut was 6 of 7 from the field and 1 of 2 at the foul line.

Betancourt led the Tigers in rebounding with eight. Felicia Prible and Eisenhut each had four boards.

Woodlan won the junior varsity game 42-30.

Peyton Fugate and Peeper topped Bluffton’s jayvees with nine points apiece. Connelly Mettler added six, Brown four and Nicole Lykins two.

Brown also had three rebounds. Mettler, Taylor Dove and Sheena Steffen each had three.
