The Southern Wells Raiders scored the winning run in the last inning to pull out an 8-7 non-conference baseball victory over the South Adams Starfires on Monday at Berne.
South Adams (3-6) rallied from a 7-4 deficit to tie the game at 7-7 with three runs in the bottom of the sixth.
Clayton Sessions singled to drive in the winning run for the Raiders (5-4) in the battle of Allen County Athletic Conference rivals.
South Adams challenged in the bottom of the seventh, but the Raiders held off the Starfires.
Southern Wells’ pitching gave up just three hits.
Starting pitcher Luke Roush went three innings, giving up four runs on one hit, four walks and two hit batters. He struck out three.
Jake Ripperger (3-2) relieved Roush and went three innings. He gave up one hit, walked two and struck out two.
Devin Leas pitched the last inning and recorded a save. He gave up one hit and struck out Caleb Armenta to end the game.
Ripperger led the Raiders’ hitting with two doubles. Conner Stoffel, Sessions and Leas also doubled.
Ripperger, Leas, Sessions and Stoffell each had two hits.
The Raiders commited five errors.
Caleb Sprunger (0-2) was the losing pitcher.
