Raiders scalp Union City in doubleheader

The Southern Wells Raiders evened their season baseball record at 4-4 on Saturday with a strong offensive showing against the Union City Indians at Union City.

The Raiders took a doubleheader from the Indians, winning the first game 14-8 and taking the second one 14-3.

In game one, Brandon Biberstine doubled twice, while Devin Leas tripled and doubled. Luke Roush also drilled a home run. Leas was 4 for 4. Biberstine was 2 for 5, while Alex Fiock, Clayton Sessions and Roush were 2 for 4.

Jake Ripperger (2-2) was the winning pitcher, going seven innings and striking out six batters. The Indians collected eight hits and each team had three errors.

Larry Poling and Gary Williams both doubled for Union City. Poling was 3 for 4. The Indians also had a home run off Ripperger.

Leas also was 3 for 5 in game two as the Raiders banged out 10 hits. Leas doubled twice. Seth Biberstine was 2 for 4 with a triple. Kevin Feemster homered. Brandon Biberstine was 2 for 5 and Zach Thompson 2 for 3.

Fiock (1-0) pitched a complete game for the win, giving up no earned runs on four hits. He struck out eight. The Raiders had three errors and Indians two.

Poling, Williams and Tyler Hall each doubled for the Indians.
