Firefighters from four departments responded to a house fire Wednesday morning in Jackson Township. The house was destroyed in the blaze.
Dispatchers fielded a 911 call at 8:39 a.m. that a house was on fire. The residence is listed as 10500W-600S, owned by Mark and Annette Thompson.
Scott Holliday, chief deputy of the Wells County Sheriff’s Department, said the front porch was burning when he arrived at the scene. He said he had been told that a Christmas light may have been responsible for the fire.
Firefighters from the Warren, Liberty Center, Chester Township, and Van Buren fire departments responded to the house fire in sub-freezing temperatures. Tanker trucks had to return to Warren over icy roads for more water to fight the blaze, and two portable holding tanks were set up to supply water to firefighters.
Firefighters were still on the scene at press time.
