Four post wins at Baer Field
FORT WAYNE — Cory Setser, Ron Stine, Jared Neal and Dick Soule won feature events during Baer Field Speedway’s Bill Lipkey Memorial on Saturday.
Setser captured the Hoosier Outlaw Sprint Series 30-lap race. Setser held off a determined Aaron Pierce and Geoff Kaiser finished third.
Stine won the 25-lap modified race. Todd Bennett was second, followed by Jeremy Wallen, Mike Bufink, Joe Wormcastle, Don Skaggs, Ralph Baxter, Shawn Bonar, Bill Sink and Travis Stepp.
Neal posted his fourth straight victory. Brian Gruss finished second, followed by Paul Murray, Larry Vandall, Alex Vonderau, Jan Long, Randy Sheumann, Steven Russell, Joe Kuhnberger and John Shuler.
Soule won the 20-lap mini stock event for his fourth straight victory. Mike Mayes was second. Rounding out the top 10 were Brad McBride, Cameron Lindlag, Chris Thompson, Zac Sipe, Dale Moses, John Puff, Chad Schlatter and Mark McBride.
Racing returns to Baer Field on Saturday with modified, street stocks and mini stocks. Time trials start at 5:30 p.m., with racing beginning at 7:30 p.m.
Meeting set for Norwell girls golf team
Girls interested in joining the Norwell girls golf team should meet at Timber Ridge golf course on Wednesday, July 30 at 7 a.m.
Norwell girls cross country to start
Any girl entering grades 9-12, with an interest in running cross country at Norwell High School, should report for the first day of practice on Monday, Aug. 4 at 8 a.m. All girls planning to run cross country need to have a physical form, Knight Contract, trainer’s card and $20 transportation fee turned in at this time. Runners will not be able to practice with the team until all the required paper work and fees are turned in. Norwell boys soccer conditioning set
The Norwell boys soccer team will begin conditioning next week for all players wishing to play on this year’s high school team. Conditioning is not manadatory, but highly recommended. It will take place at the Norwell athletic fields from 8- 9:30 p.m. Monday through Friday, July 28-Aug. 1.
Bluffton tennis practice to begin
Bluffton Tigers boys tennis practice will start on Aug. 4. Practices will be held from 9-11 a.m. until school begins. Then after classes start, practices will be run from 2:45-4:30 p.m. If there are any questions, contact Robert Vanderkolk at 273-3220 or 824-5454.
Bluffton cross country to begin practice
Bluffton High School cross country officially begins practice on Monday, Aug. 4. Students in grades 9-12 must have completed physical on file in the Bluffton athletic office prior to beginning practice. Please contact Bret Grover at 260-820-0638 with any other questions.
Norwell summer football camps slated
The Norwell summer football camps for Norwell Middle School, Ossian and Lancaster elementary and Bethlehem School boys grades 3-4 is July 29-31 from 4:30-5:30 p.m. Cost is $30, which includes a camp T-shirt. Grades 5-8 is from 5:30-7 p.m. Cost is $35, including a T-shirt.
Campers will receive instruction in blocking, running, passing, receiving and tackling. Instruction also will include plays that will be used by the Wells County Youth Football League or Norwell Middle School teams. Pads and helmets will not be used.
