Wells County Hawks grounded
The Wells County Hawks traveling team was eliminated from the Dreams Park baseball tournament at Cooperstown, N.Y., on Wednesday. After the Hawks defeated the Jersey Shore (N.J.) Hurricanes 13-7 in the first round of the final single-elimination tournament, they were ousted by the Orland Park (Ill.) Magic 4-3. Prior to the single-elimination tournament, the Hawks completed a suspended game against H-Town from Hawaii, winning that game. No score was available and details from the three games were not available.

Bluffton tennis practice to begin
Bluffton Tigers boys tennis practice will start on Aug. 4.  Practices will be held from 9-11 a.m. until school begins. Then after classes start, practices will be run from 2:45-4:30 p.m. If there are any questions, contact Robert Vanderkolk at 273-3220 or 824-5454.

Bluffton cross country to begin practice
Bluffton High School cross country officially begins practice on Monday, Aug. 4. Students in grades 9-12 must have completed physical on file in the Bluffton athletic office prior to beginning practice. Please contact Bret Grover at 260-820-0638 with any other questions.

Norwell girls cross country to start

Any girl entering grades 9-12, with an interset in running cross-country this fall at Norwell High School, should report for the first day of practice on Monday August 4th at 8:00 AM. All girls planning to run cross-country this fall need to have a physical form, Knght Contract, trainer’s card and $20 transportation fee turned in at this time. Runners will not be able to practice with the team until all the required paper work and fees are turned in. Practice will last until approximately 10:00 AM. Wells County Running Club to form

Anyone interested in helping to form a running club in Wells County is asked to attend one of two exploratory meetings to be held in August. The meetings will be held at FPC located right in front of Richards Restaurant. The first meeting will be held on Thursday, Aug. 7 at 7 p.m. and the second will be Sunday, Aug. 10 at 3:30 p.m. The goal of the meetings is to determine if there is enough interest to form and maintain a running club in Wells County.
