OSB wins WCJL tournament
Ossian State Bank scored two runs in the bottom of the sixth inning to win the Wells County Junior League 12U baseball tournament 6-5 against the Zanesville Merchants on Tuesday night at Uniondale.
Jonah Patten started the inning with a double. Briar Bollinger’s single scored Patten to tie the game. Bollinger advanced to third on two passed balls. Another passed ball allowed Bollinger to score the game winning run. Dakota Miller and Brandon Burch each had singles for OSB.
In the third inning, Patten hit a two-run home run to give OSB a 4-3 lead. Zanesville punched two runs across in the fifth to regain a 5-4 advantage.
Zanesville’s Piercen Harnish and Reggie Hayes scored in the first inning on singles by Hayes and Cal Clouser. OSB tied the score in bottom half of the inning. Garrett Mohler and Jonah Patten each scored. Patten and Cody Fiedler singled.
Vogel and Patten combined to allow Zanesville only seven hits and struck out 13. Vogel was the winning pitcher.
Pizza Hut 9, First Bank of Berne 1
Ritchie Conley struck out 15 batters Tuesday night to help Pizza Hut silence First Bank of Berne 9-1 in a Bluffton Junior League baseball game at Jefferson Park. Pizza Hut scored seven runs in the last three innings to pull away. Conley, who was the winning pitcher, also belted a home run and single. Thomas Elliott and Graham Denney each legged out a triple. Danny Geimer doubled and singled, while Andrew Hunter doubled. First Bank of Berne was led by Clay Watson’s two doubles. Taylor Thompson was the losing pitcher.
State Farm 19, JBG’s 1
Michael Pearson, Austin Brigner and Hunter Greenway smacked home runs to power State Farm to a 19-1 victory over JBG’s in another Bluffton Junior League baseball game Tuesday night. Joshua Streveler struck out 13 batters and allowed only one hit by Kyler Fugate to take the win. Brigner added two doubles and a single. Pearson also doubled and singled, while Greenway also doubled and singled twice. Fugate suffered the loss.
T-Ball scores reported
The following Bluffton T-Ball League scores have been reported: Almco Steel 16, DeHoff Insulation 13; E&B Landscaping 25, American Legion 0; AdamsWells 14, Longenberger Financial 11.
Register for Norwell football golf outing
Entries are being taken for the Norwell football golf outing on Aug. 9 at Timber Ridge golf course in Bluffton. Cost is $60 or $40 for Timber Ridge members, including 18 holes, cart and lunch. Moss leads Senior Golf League
Jerry Moss shot a 40 at Green Valley golf course in Bluffton Tuesday morning to lead the Men’s Senior Golf League. Andy Lopez was the low net leader with a 32. Members of the winning team were Bob Gillom, Bob Brickley, Herman McCormick and Lopez. Gillom was closest to the pin and Nile Sharpe had the longest putt.
