Bluffton needs coaches

The Bluffton Athletic Department is seeking qualified candidates and taking applications for coaching positions for football, volleyball and wrestling. Interested applicants should contact Athletics Director Steve Thompson at 824-3724 as soon as possible.
Standard Plastics 3, First Bank of Berne 2
Standard Plastics came up with all of its runs in the fourth inning to defeat First Bank of Berne 3-2 on Tuesday in a Bluffton Junior League baseball game at Jefferson Park. Jake Garrett was the winning pitcher and singled twice. Cody Harris, Ethan Mygrant and Garrett each scored a run. Clay Watson was the losing pitcher despite striking out 14 batters. Malcolm Marshall and Watson each scored.

Metaldyne 17, National City 0

Grant Prible smacked a home run, triple and single to lead Metaldyne to a 17-0 victory over National City in a Bluffton Farm League baseball game on Tuesday at Roush Park. Jacey Dunnuck doubled and singled twice. Mitchell Kuhlenbeck added a double and single. Collin Barker, Max Corle, Bryce Paxson and Levi Arnold each had two singles. Barker was the winning pitcher and Clayton Thompson suffered the loss.

Hiday Motors 12, Bluffton Regional 5
Bryce Bonewit and Reggie Garrett each had three hits and scored three runs to drive Hiday Motors to a 12-5 win over Bluffton Regional in a Bluffton Farm League baseball game on Monday at Roush Park. Hiday Motors broke the game open with seven runs in the fourth inning. Ethan Williams doubled and singled for Bluffton Regional. Bonewit was the winning pitcher, while Bryce Kelly took the loss.

Girls softball score reported
Bluffton Regional/Moser & Son defeated Rock Creek Materials 22-11 in a Wells County Girls Softball game on Tuesday.

T-Ball scores reported
The following Bluffton T-Ball League scores have been reported: Wells Fargo 12, Les Gerber Insurance 10; NAPA 21, Longenberger Financial 14; DeHoff Insurance 17, Safety Lite 8; Masonic Lodge 22, Sprunger Insulation 16.

Graft, Lopez lead senior golfers

Erv Graft and Andy Lopez recorded the low individual scores for the Tuesday Men’s Senior Golf League at Green Valley golf course in Bluffton. Graft had the low gross score of 39, while Lopez had the lowest net score of 31. Members of the winning team were Charles Osborn, Larry Beeks, Bob Gillom and Joe Baur. Richard Ehrsam was the closest to the pin winner.

F.O.P. 12, Bluffton Regional 4
Grant Harris struck out nine batters and Trey Collins doubled and singled to lead F.O.P. to a 12-4 victory over Bluffton Regional in a Bluffton Farm League baseball game last Wednesday at Roush Park. Jacob Studebaker added a triple. Harris also was the winning pitcher. Elija Williams had the only hit for Bluffton Regional. Dustin Bamgartner was the losing pitcher.

F.O.P. 2, National Oil 0
Trey Collins struck out 10 batters for F.O.P. last Tuesday in a 2-0 victory over National Oil in a Bluffton Farm League baseball game. Collins was the winning pitcher, while Desmond Carter struck out 12 in a losing effort. F.O.P. had two basehits and National Oil one.

13U Sluggers advance to semifinals
The 13-and-under Summit City Sluggers advanced to the semifinals of a baseball tournament held in conjunction with the College World Series last weekend in Omaha.
Their championship efforts were thwarted by the weather, as the balance of the tournament was cancelled Sunday.
The Sluggers (28-4) finished up 3-1 and only gave up four runs. They were beaten by the Illinois Red Dogs 1-0 in 10 innings with Ryan Keaffaber absorbing the loss in relief of Matt Chronister and Braydin Stell. Josh VanMeter threw 6 1/3 innings of one-hit ball against the Kansas Crush in a 4-1 victory and Garrett Snyder picked up the save. Keaffaber came back to earn a win against the Crush 4-0. Andy Roser earned the pitching victory against Jackson (Tenn.) Coyotes 4-2.
VanMeter drove in four runs and scored twice. Evan Brown, Drew Schnitz, Roser, Keaffaber and Stell each drove in one run. VanMeter and Schnitz each scored two runs. Austin Dettmer, Zach McKinstry, Justin Bair, Snyder, Keaffaber and Stell each scored a run.
