Softball sectional pairings released

The field for the 24th IHSAA softball state tournament series was set Thursday in Indianapolis. This year’s state tournament consists of 371 teams and begins with sectional play 10 days from now.

Competition begins with 64 sectionals conducted in four different classes on Monday, May 19, and continues through Saturday, May 24.

Each of the sectional champions will advance to regional play — four sites in each class — on Saturday, May 31. Each of the 16 regional tournaments will feature four teams with two semifinal games beginning in the morning, followed by the championship game later in the day and a berth in the state finals on the line.

Norwell and Bluffton are sectional hosts this year in its respective class, while Southern Wells travels to Wes-Del.

The pairings for the three sectionals are as follows:

Class 3A Sectional 22
At Norwell
Game 1 – Fort Wayne Elmhurst vs. Peru.
Game 2 – Bellmont vs. Norwell.
Game 3 – Winner of Game 1 vs. Winner of Game 2.
Game 4 – Fort Wayne Wayne vs. Maconaquah.
Championship – Winner of Game 3 vs. Winner of Game 4.

At Bluffton
Game 1 – South Adams vs. Woodlan.
Game 2 – Fort Wayne Bishop Luers vs. Adams Central.
Game 3 – Bluffton vs. Winner of Game 1.
Championship – Winner of Game 2 vs. Winner of Game 3.

At Wes-Del (4)
Game 1 – Tri-Central vs. Southern Wells.
Game 2 – Liberty Christian vs. Wes-Del.
