Knights cruise past New Haven golfers
At McMillen Park in Fort Wayne, the Norwell Knights boys golf team cruised past the New Haven Bulldogs 141-161 with four Knights breaking 40.
Drew Imel led the Knights with a par round on the par 33 front nine. McCormick Clouser was one over par at 34. Taylor Imel and Ross Mathews each shot a 37 and Brandon Bennett carded a 40.
Norwell won the jayvee contest 164-179.

Garrett golfers clip Raiders, Starfires
Garrett’s golfers proved just a little too sharp for their Southern Wells and South Adams counterparts at Timber Ridge on Tuesday afternoon, taking the honors in a three-way contest over nine holes.
Garrett’s six-man team recorded a score of 176, just edging out Southern Wells with 179 and South Adams back on 199. The Raiders claimed the best individual effort, however, with Tayler Story recording a 41.
Garrett’s best individual performer was T.J. Wolpert, who completed his nine holes with a 42, while Landyn Waugh’s 47 was South Adams’ best effort.
Also for Southern Wells, Jason Cristman recorded a 44, Blake Hoffman 46, Alex Trosper 48, Cameron Carter 50 and Daniel Schmidt 53.
The best four scores counted towards the team total.

Heritage tops Lady Tigers
A five-run fifth-inning rally by the Heritage Lady Patriots sent them to a 6-1 victory over the homestanding Bluffton Lady Tigers on Tuesday in Allen County Athletic Conference softball.
Heritage pitcher Kristin Wright (4-4) throttled the Lady Tigers by scattering 12 hits over seven innings and striking out three. Brittany Folk was the losing pitcher, allowing eight hits and five earned runs over seven. She struck out seven and walked two. The Lady Tigers (9-13, 2-4 ACAC) committed four errors.
Maddie Walburn doubled, singled and drove in the Lady Tigers’ run. Shelby Lesh and Eliza Walburn also doubled. Chelsea Thompson, Eliza Walburn and Folk each had two hits.
Jamie Gilbert doubled, singled and drove in two runs for Heritage, which is 10-7 and 4-2. Ashley Gibson also had two RBIs. Lindsay Enterline and Amber Ladig also had two hits apiece.

Lady Barons trip Norwell netters
At Waterloo, the DeKalb Lady Barons tennis team defeated the Norwell Lady Knights 4-1 in a Northeast Hoosier Conference meet. DeKalb upped its record to 8-2 overall and 4-2 in the NHC. Norwell dropped to 6-6 and 2-4.
Norwell’s No. 1 doubles tandem of Alex Baker and Jaylee Leman rallied to win its match over Lexie Buchs and Katie Reynolds 4-6, 6-4, 6-2.
In singles, Carolyn Hanes defeated Alyssa Tucker 6-3, 6-0. Deidre Bruce topped Kaylee Imel 6-4, 6-3. Brittany Hanes beat Sara Nahrwold 6-1, 6-0.
In the No. 2 doubles match, Jayma Phillips and Alison Konieczki beat Kourtney Reed and Christy Taylor 6-1, 6-1.
DeKalb won the junior varsity matches 3-2. Rachelle Rodenbeck won her singles match for Norwell 9-7, while Lindsey Dahn and Adriene Troxel won in doubles 7-6 (7-4).

Heritage jayvees nip Lady Tigers
The Heritage Lady Patriots nipped the Bluffton Lady Tigers 3-2 at Monroeville on Tuesday in Allen County Athletic Conference junior varsity girls softball. Lexie Garrett led Bluffton with three hits. Paulina Prado added two hits. Emily Harnish, Natalie Shank and Aja Hurst singled. Katie Mettler was the losing pitcher and struck out seven.

DeKalb jayvees defeat Knights
The DeKalb Barons scored three runs in the fifth and three more in the sixth to defeat the Norwell Knights 9-4 in a Northeast Hoosier Conference junior varsity baseball game Tuesday at Norwell.
Norwell dropped to 9-4 overall and 3-2 in NHC games. DeKalb raised its mark to 15-2 and 4-1.
The Knights took a 3-1 lead in the second inning. Jasson Werling and Graham Shearer singled and scored on a single by  Brandon Gerber. Gerber scored on a wild pitch. In the third inning Landon Curry walked and later scored on a wild pitch. Jake Kendall was the losing pitcher.
Pinkerton, Killingbeck lead SW girls
Emily Pinkerton and Haley Killingbeck placed first in two events apiece Monday for the Southern Wells Lady Raiders girls track and field team against Blackford at Carnes Field.

Blackford outscored Southern Wells 79-60.
Pinkerton won the 1600 meter run in 5:54 and the 3200 in 13:06. Killingbeck won the discus throw with a toss of 112 feet and cleared 4 feet, 6 inches to win the high jump. She also was second in the shot put with a throw of 30 feet, 8 inches.
Maartje Rooijakkers, Julia Bartlett, Megan Bryant and Killingbeck teamed up to win the 400 meter relay in 58 seconds.
Bartlett also won the 200 meter dash in 29.5 seconds and was second in the 100 in 13.8. Bryant was third in the 200 in 32.6.
Chelsea Mossburg was second in the 800 meters in 3:13.3 and third in the 100 meter hurdles in 23 seconds.
Ashley Baker was third in the discus with 68-6 and third in the shot put with 22-7 1/2. Brittney Bergman was third in the 400 meters in 1:23. Rooijakkers was third in the 300 low hurdles in 59.8 and long jump with 12 feet, 6 1/4 inches.

Moss leads senior golfers
Jerry Moss was the low medalist and low net scorer Tuesday as the Men’s Senior Golf League teed off its season at Green Valley (formerly Hickory Hills) golf course in Bluffton. Moss shot a 42 for nine holes and recorded a net score of 36. He also was the closest to the pin winner. members of the winning team were Jim Smith, Tom Williams, Alan Penrod, Larry Beeks and Joe Baur.
