advertisement:

The Southern Wells FFA held their annual Spring Awards Banquet on April 15 to recognize the member’s achievements of the past year.

The highlight of the evening was the presentation of STAR Chapter Degree awards to seniors Casey Carroll and Chris Siebold.

The STAR Degree, the chapter’s highest award is based on FFA participation, leadership development, Supervised Agriculture Experience (SAE), school activities, and scholarship. Both have been key leaders of the chapter throughout high school, Carroll serving as vice-president and Siebold serving as president this past year. They led in many chapter activities and successfully competed in many district, state, and national contests. Siebold plans to attend Anderson University to earn a degree in Business Management.  Carroll plans to attend Purdue University to study health care.

Carroll also received the Dekalb Award. Sponsored by the Dekalb seed corn company, the award is based on leadership, scholarship, and SAE records.

Honorary Chapter Degree Awards were presented to Steve and Susie Siebold.  This award is given each year to citizens in our community who have assisted the Southern Wells FFA Chapter. The Siebolds serve on the Agricultural Education Advisory Committee. Their support of the chapter has helped banquets and activities run smoothly and efficiently.
