A three-run, sixth-inning rally led the South Adams Starfires to a 5-4 victory over the visiting Southern Wells Raiders on Thursday in Allen County Athletic Conference baseball action at Berne.
Southern Wells (5-9) had scored two runs in the top of the sixth to take a 4-2 lead.
The Starfires upped their record to 8-4 and 3-2 in ACAC play. The Raiders dipped to 1-4 against ACAC foes.
Jordan Steiner led the Starfires with a home run, two doubles, a single and four RBIs. Caleb Armenta had the Starfires’ other two hits.
The Raiders slugged out 12 hits against South Adams’ pitcher Ethan Sharp, who survived the outing, striking out nine and allowing two earned runs. The Starfires had five errors.
Thad Harter had two hits and two RBIs for the Raiders. Devin Leas, the losing pitcher, had three hits, includind a double. Alex Fiock had doubled and singled and one RBI. Brent Doublin and Tyler Roush each had two hits. Brandon Biberstine doubled. Leas gave up four earned runs, walked four and struck out eight.
