Behavior Resource and Recovery Center of Wells County seeks to assist with specific needs in the community. Assistance can be provided to community organizations on domestic abuse and school programs on bullying, discipline, and student responsibility.
The organization, previously known as the Mental Health Association of Wells County, provides written resources to individuals and is also able to direct individuals to locations where they can obtain treatment.
Behavior Resource and Recovery Center of Wells County has an office in the Wells Carnegie Government Annex, 223 W. Washington St. in Bluffton. Volunteers staff the office from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Monday, Tuesday and Thursday. The phone number is 824-1514, and the phone has an answering machine.
Officers are Sharon McMillan, president; Nancy Bonham, vice president; and Jean Reef, treasurer and acting secretary.
The organization has depression and Alzheimer’s support information and mental health public education available. Services include the Christmas Gift List for distribution at Logansport State Hospital and Christmas cards for residents of local nursing homes. The group ask provides funds to local nursing homes for administrators to purchase items to assist residents. Special programs are occasionally presented throughout the year, and the organization participates in the Wells County Health Fair each October.
Membership is open to any Wells County resident. The membership fee is $10 a year.
