Blackford tops Raiders 5-3
The Blackford Bruins defeated the Southern Wells Raiders 5-3 Friday in varsity baseball action at Southern Wells.
Bruins’ pitcher Logan Duckworth got his first win of the season working 5 1/3 innings and allowing one earned run on two hits. He struck out five. He also drove in a run with an RBI single in the sixth inning and stole a base.
The Bruins’ record climbed to 5-4, while the Raiders fell to 0-4.
JV Raiders lose to Wabash in baseball
The Wabash Apaches’ junior varsity baseball team defeated the Southern Wells Raiders 16-5 in five innings Thursday evening at Southern Wells.
Jacob Heron led the Raiders with two singles. Elijah Barkell had the other Raider hit. Jacey Dunnuck scored two runs, while Cameron Cook, Kyle Stroud and Barkell each scored one run. Cody Bass, Cook and Dunnuck were the Raider pitchers. They combined to allow 12 hits and walk seven batters.
Bluffton girls’ hoops to hold clinic
Bluffton High School’s girls’ basketball program will be conducting its second Parent-Daughter Clinic for students in kindergarten through second grade from 5:30 to 6:45 p.m. Monday through Thursday, May 5-8.
Parents and daughters will receive a T-shirt, and each daughter will receive a basketball. Deadline to register is May 1. Cost is $25. For more information call the high school office at 824-3724.
