NWCS board approves iPads for everyone

Northern Wells school board members Tuesday unanimously voted to anchor the district’s one-to-one initiative to the iPad.
They must still make several more decisions, however, before students officially carry Apples to their classrooms.
For instance, Superintendent Scott Mills did not ask board members to approve any rental fees; he did not ask them to support any Internet usage policies.
And before board member Scott Elzey made the motion to approve the tablets, he confirmed with Mills that — for now — they were essentially taking just the first step.
“We’ve been on quite the journey to understand which device would give us the greatest leverage in unleashing student learning,” Mills said. “The device that kept rising to the top, and we couldn’t knock it back down, is the iPad.”
