Norwell junior Jonah Patten invited to make Team USA

April 6, 2013 — By PAUL BEITLER

As the velocity of Jonah Patten’s fastball has increased over the past few years, his accolades and honors also have continued to mount.
Late this week Patten received an e-mail telling him that he has been invited to the USA Baseball Tournament of Stars in Cary, N.C., to represent the North Amateur Baseball Federation from June 18-23.
During that time, the Knights’ right-hander will be one of 144 players evaluated for the 18-and-under National Team. If selected, he and 39 other players in that age group will assemble in Los Angeles on Aug. 18 for the next stage of evaluations. From that group, the final 20-man roster will be announced on Aug. 22.
