From Arizona to the snowpocalypse

It seems that I dedicate this space to Arizona once a year, and I couldn’t think of a better time than now — when it’s 8 degrees outside and snowing on a cloudless morning— to write about a recent visit to the idyllic Grand Canyon State.
I try to make it out west at least once a year to visit my friends from college and their family. It has turned into one of the traditions I most treasure each year.
My last trip to Arizona was January 2013, but I racked up enough points on my credit card for a gratis plane ticket to make a four-day sojourn to the Phoenix area — Chandler, to be precise — during the first week of January.
