Council looks at plan’s zoning maps

The new Wells County comprehensive plan will show Bluffton’s zoning a little differently than the city’s current zoning map does.
Michael Lautzenheiser Jr., the director of the Area Plan Commission, told members of the Bluffton Common Council Tuesday night that some parcels in the city have more than one zoning — for instance, one side is zoned for business while the other side is zoned residential. That kind of zoning is particularly true along Main Street/Ind. 1 in Bluffton, Lautzenheiser said, where 300 feet from the center line was zoned for business. If a parcel went deeper than 300 feet from the thoroughfare’s center line, it was considered residential.
