Bluffton 12-and-under all-stars run over Monroe
The Bluffton 12-and-under all-stars defeated the Monroe all-stars 18-3 Thursday evening in the opening round of the Monroe All-Star baseball tournament.
Jarrett Phillippe was the winning pitcher, allowing two singles and striking out three over two innings.
Kaden Gerber singled three times and scored three runs. Conner Norman tripled, singled and scored one run. Nathan Lozoya and Jakobie McCormick each scored three runs. Josh Bridges and Cody Mittlestedt each scored two runs. Bluffton will play New Haven at 11 a.m. Saturday. The single-elimination round will start Saturday afternoon after pool play is completed.

SW girls’ golf meeting scheduled
Southern Wells High School girls who are interested in playing on the golf team should report to the school at the flag pole at 4 p.m. Monday, July 28. If there are any questions or conflicts call coach Charles Harris at 260-341-0561.

Report for Norwell cross country
Cross country conditioning has begun for Norwell middle school and high school boys and girls. Sessions are at Norwell from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Tuesday and Thursday, meeting in the school parking lot between the softball diamond and the soccer field.
Official high school practices will start on Monday, Aug. 4, from 6 to 8 p.m. Athletic physical forms may be found on the Northern Wells Community Schools’ website at http://www.nwcs.k12.in.us/.

Bluffton boys’ tennis to start up
Bluffton High School boys interested in playing on the fall tennis team should contact Robert Vanderkolk at 260-273-3220 or .(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address). Conditioning will be held from 9 to 10:30 a.m., July 28 through Aug. 1, at the school tennis courts. Official mandatory practices will be from 8:30 to 10:30 a.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. August 4 through 8. Practices will be held from 3:15 to 4:45 p.m. beginning Aug. 11.

Clouser earns scholastic honor
MUNCIE — Ball State senior McCormick Clouser was named to the 2013-14 All-America Scholars by Cleveland Golf and Srixon.
Clouser, who graduated from Norwell High School, carries a 3.86 grade point average as a mathematical economics major. The Bluffton product was a second-team Academic All-Mid-American Conference selection in 2014. He led the Cardinals with a 75.0 stroke average and posted four top-20 finishes on the season.
